Carney has over 30 years experience in the savings and loan industry
and real estate business. He began as an associate of Roy G.
Dutton Real Estate in Sherman and has served as president of the Sherman
Board of Realtors. He has been staff appraiser, vice president and
loan officer and manager of the Mortgage Loan Department of Sherman
Savings and Loan. He also was manager of administration of North
Texas Region of First Texas savings. He held the position of
Sherman branch manager of Resource Savings from December 1980 until it
closed in November 1990.
Carney served as County Clerk of Grayson County after his appointment
February 1992 through November 1992.
Carney is a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of
Sherman. He and his wife, Margie, an English teacher at Sherman
High School, have two adult children. Their daughter, Elaine
Wilson, is a counselor in the Sherman School system and their son, Jeff
Wilson is a Sherman attorney.
